All about motorcycles


Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame, located on the corner of Junction and Main streets in Sturgis, is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Some of the many motorcycles the museum displays include a 1905 Excelsior, a 1911 Flying Merkel, a 1912 Indian (in original condition), a 1913 Indian, a 1915 Harley, a 1925 Douglas, a 1946 Indian Chief, a 1949 Harley EL Hydra Glide, a 1948 Royal Enfield, a 1959 Ariel and a 1978 Honda Gold Wing.

The museum houses other motorcycle memorabilia and photographs as well.

The museum still has the American Motorcyclist Association’s Women’s Exhibit. It also contains a racing room and a history-of-the-rally room.

Admission is $3 per person; $2 for those 50 and older; and free for children younger than 12. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Phone: 605-347-2001.
